My Garden - June 2010

There's always something going on in my garden that I find amusing and interesting--so many things to learn and be inspired by--just another day in my little corner of the world.  I look forward to seeing what each day has to offer!

What a pleasant surprise it was when these eye-catching and brightly colored flowers showed up in my garden one summer.  I looked in my gardening books but was unable to find this particular flower.  It looks like it belongs in the Rudbeckia family because it has the familiar coneflower characteristics.  Does anyone know the name of these beauties?

One afternoon I was entertained by the mother squirrel showing her baby the "ropes" of backyard birdfeeders.  You could see how caring the mother would be in showing her baby different techniques of stretching and jumping.  The baby would lose interest and go off on its own not too far from mom's view but you could see mom's concern of it's baby's whereabouts.

My favorite picture is the one where baby is inside the squirrel feeder--a box I fill with treats just for the squirrels.  This baby has learned this trick already!!!  It is made so squirrels lift the lid and go inside--the birds are unable to eat the squirrel food--that's a switch!

Here's the mom carefully holding her baby who is trying to eat peanuts from the peanut feeder and then you can see the baby on mom's back and  below baby discovering yet another bird feeder--this was a Kodak moment for me!

In my pajamas and camera in tow, I took some pictures of flowers blooming in my garden one June morning in Northern New Jersey, USA--my little corner of the earth!!!I have a hydrangea shrub in my backyard that is full of of these gorgeous flowers and in the front yard I have a butterfly bush with deep purple flowers just waiting for the butterflies to find it--butterflies love to feed on them.

Here's a pale pink hollyhock that chose this spot in my frontyard to bloom--

I love the uniqueness of this yellow coneflower making a statement in my front yard.
Daylilies are one of my favorite flowers because they bloom effortlessly all summer into fall.  I have many different varieties and here are two that caught my eye this morning.

And finally, after not having any flowers since I planted this hydrangea shrub in my frontyard, this year I finally get to see it's first flowers, how beautiful it is!

Whimseys on Etsy

I just received my new bag I bought from Whimseys,  one of our very own EtsyNJ members, and I absolutely love it!  It is of high quality fabric and the workmanship is excellent and very professional.  I received the bag in a couple of days as promised and it came packaged very nicely.

I chose this particular bag because I was looking for a bold summer purse, reasonably priced and large enough for all my stuff.  The sale price was definitely a plus, at $19.99 it was a good deal.  And, may I add, it came with a vintage pin which adds a nice touch.  Here's a picture of me showing off my new bag!

I am so happy with my purchase and it was a pleasure doing business with SuZ.  If you are looking for a bag for yourself or as a gift, check out Whimseys.

About Me

My photo
I am fascinated with flowers and floral designing is my passion--I do my designing late at night since I am not a morning person! I love to cook and invent new recipes. My favorite is "refrigerator soup"--when I want homemade soup I find whatever is leftover in the fridge and cook up a pot of soup. It's always a surprise what comes out but is usually good! I love to hang out with my good friends just having some wine at home or out at our favorite restaurants. I like taking pictures of the flowers that I grow in my garden.
