The first thing I do after I wake up and go downstairs for my first cup of coffee is to look out my kitchen window and notice all the birds gathered by my feeders. Their singing is so relaxing and I love watching them while I think about the brand new day ahead of me.

The best seed for bird feeding is the black sunflower seed because all birds like it--even the squirrels too!

One can get a chuckle while birdwatching! I got to observe bird bullying right outside my kitchen window. I had just moved one of my birdhouses closer to my window when right away a pair of sparrows moved right in. The male started with the nest building and was carrying some straw into its new house when out of nowhere came another male sparrow and snatched the whole bundle of straw right out of its mouth and flew away with it! The poor little sparrow could not react fast enough to get his straw back and just gave up. I wanted to go outside and scold that mean sparrow!

My dog loves bird watching as well and the two of us are quite content just hanging out and watching the birds. We do this for about a half hour and then we have breakfast.

I treasure these quiet moments!

I was able to take a pretty nice picture of a pair of Cardinals feeding right outside my kitchen window last summer. And, next to it is one of my favorite wreaths I have designed showing these beautiful red birds--it is one of my favorites!
I hope you take a few minutes and enjoy our feathered friends, it will be time well-spent!

Love the cardinals! You're lucky you can leave your bird feeder out during the summer. Up here I have to bring ours in after mid-March or the bears come a'knockin'.

I hope I get to posting a couple more bird pics I've been taking. One year I had a racoon visiting at night eating the bird seed--scared me to death when I looked and saw this huge racoon sitting on a small branch that barely supported him by the feeder eating every bit of bird seed!

About Me

My photo
I am fascinated with flowers and floral designing is my passion--I do my designing late at night since I am not a morning person! I love to cook and invent new recipes. My favorite is "refrigerator soup"--when I want homemade soup I find whatever is leftover in the fridge and cook up a pot of soup. It's always a surprise what comes out but is usually good! I love to hang out with my good friends just having some wine at home or out at our favorite restaurants. I like taking pictures of the flowers that I grow in my garden.
